“Unless it is mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it is a waste of time. There are too many mediocre things in life. Love should not be one of them.”

Love is never mediocre, but I’m not so sure about the sentiment here because I’ve noticed that many people have only been exposed to models of love which are filled with drama, noise, turbulence, struggle, the cliche pendulum motion between anger and dissipation, leading ultimately to pain, cruelty, sorrow. In my world love can also be silent, tranquil, balanced, content, which is indeed extraordinary in this wreckage of a world.

IMO, the idea that “real” love is tempestuous and volatile is ridiculous.  I’ve been in dramatic relationships, and the one that’s lasted is the one where we approach conflict with the goal not to be right (at least not all the time), but to resolve it and still love each other.  Sure, sometimes it’s exciting to fling yourself or your possessions about in a fit of temper or despair, but you still have to clean the mess up afterward.
But seriously, you guys, I am right most of the time.

I’m feeling mad, passionate, extraordinary STABBINESS right now, because if there’s one thing I hate (we all know there are many things I hate, but this is near the top of the list) it’s the idea that love has to be full of OMG DRAMZ or it isn’t real.  I hate it in real life, and I hate it in fiction… conflict happens in every relationship, but conflict does not have to mean melodrama.
